The city of Lumberton, TX, is located in southeastern Hardin County, almost 15 miles north of Beaumont along the Eastex Freeway, just past the split with Highways 69/287. Incorporated in 1973, Lumberton covers 13.3 square miles of land, home to a current population of roughly 12,500 people.
The town was established when the railroad came through the area in 1894, serving local sawmills and lumber camps. Today, Lumberton is a bedroom community and one of the state’s fastest-growing towns with its many subdivisions. Village Creek State Park in located here, a heavily forested span of more than 1,000 acres.
