The city of Lumberton, TX, is located in southeastern Hardin County, almost 15 miles north of Beaumont along the Eastex Freeway, just past the split with Highways 69/287. Incorporated in 1973, Lumberton covers 13.3 square miles of land, home to a current population of roughly 12,500 people.
The town was established when the railroad came through the area in 1894, serving local sawmills and lumber camps. Today, Lumberton is a bedroom community and one of the state’s fastest-growing towns with its many subdivisions. Village Creek State Park in located here, a heavily forested span of more than 1,000 acres. Visitors from all over Texas and Louisiana come to the park every year, while Lumberton plays host to the annual Village Creek Festival.
